First Voyages, a reprint-anthology edited by Damon Knight, Martin H. Grenberg, and Joseph D. Olander. In 1963, Knight edited an anthology of ten "first stories" by famous SF authors: First Flight, retitled to Now Begins Tomorrow in 1969. Greenberg & Olander (his new co-editors) suggested a longer version of that book, with stories by another ten "household names" of SF - so this expanded collection came out in 1981. Each story has an introduction by the author or "the editors" - varying from one paragraph to three pages.
