The wavy lines seen in the scan are moire-artifacts caused by scanning printer-rosettes. The actual color is a uniform medium gray.

Harlan Ellison: SHATTERDAY - a collection of stories (1980.) This is the first time any of these appear in an Ellison collection. "Jefty is Five" won the 1978 Hugo & Nebula awards for best story; "Count the Clock that Tells the Time" was a Hugo-nominee the following year. "All the Lies that Are My Life" was a Hugo-nominee in 1981 (for best novella.)
