Book club editions of this are findable, with patience. Actual publisher's editions are really hard to find. Book has 1/8" spinal tilt; light to moderate overall wear, Most of the usual ex-library traces are present: small stamp on credits-page, stamped letter and marker line on top page block; pocket on front endpaper (with "officially withdrawn" stamp), tape-traces where DJ in protector was taped to the book. DJ has light wear - the kind that gets through a dustjacket protector over time. DJ protector took most of the wear and has been discarded. For the first collection by a famous SF author, this is in pretty good shape, and not worn out. | |||
Le Guin's first collection of stories - an impressive debut that shows a large range in the kinds of stories she can tell (award wins and nominations are noted.) I strongly recommend this as one of the best SF collections by anybody. (Foreword by Ursula K. Le Guin) Original appearances from 1962 to 1974 - in Amazing, Fantastic (6), Playboy, Galaxy (2), Orbit 5, Orbit 6, Quark 1, New Dimensions 1, Orbit 12, Orbit 14, New Dimensions 3. "April in Paris" (1962) was her first SF story, "Semely's Necklace" was expanded into her novel Rocannon's World. |
