SFBC 1959 hardcover (Doubleday hardcover was 1958.) Jacket by Remy Charlip, 239 pages. Condition is near-Fine in a Fine(-) dustjacket: tight and amost square, slight bumping to spine ends and some corners of book, very mild uniform age tanning. No stamps, marks or writing - a clean copy. Dustjacket has no tears; slight wear at ends of spine (see scan), mild age-darkening on spine - excellent condition considering its age.

An excellent collection of short stories by C. M. Kornbluth: A Mile Beyond the Moon. This is the second of 3 primary surveys of his work that collect without overlap the bulk of his output (the others were The Explorers and The Marching Morons.) This has his most famous story ("The Little Black Bag") - but I'd also strongly recommend "Make Mine Mars", "The Slave", "Shark Ship," and "Two Dooms." For all but "The Little Black Bag" - this is their first appearance in a Kornbluth collection. Kornbluth was a master short story writer whose stories are still readable. SF suffered a major loss when he died in 1958. I don't know if there is any complete paperback edition of this book: 2 from the Sixties and a 1976 edition contained only 11/15 stories.

Make Mine Mars
The Meddlers
The Events Leading Down to the Tragedy
The Little Black Bag
Everybody Knows Joe
Time Bum
Passion Pills
Virginia
The Slave
Kazam Collects
The Last Man Left in the Bar
The Adventurer
The Words of Guru
Shark Ship
Two Dooms
Most of these stories appeared in the Fifties in Astounding, Magazine of F&SF, Science Fiction Adventures, Venture and others; a couple are from Stirring Science Stories June 1941.

(Story summaries):
"The Little Black Bag" - a medical bag from the future is mis-used.
"Shark Ship" - a cautionary tale about overpopulation and pollution.
"Two Dooms" - a chiller about a nuclear scientist who ends up in world where the Nazis and Japanese had won World War 2, dividing the US between them.
