Davy: incorporates 2 stories - "The Golden Horn" and "A War of No Consequence" from Magazine of F&SF February and March 1962 - but most of this is original. This takes place after the Twenty-Minute War and the Red Plague, in a depopulated, balkanized, and somewhat medieval North America. Davy is born in a brothel and raised in an orphanage, and travels in many directions - but always away from ignorance. Davy was a nominee for the Hugo Award in 1965. There are other books set in this future: The Company of Glory, The Judgement of Eve and most stories in Still I Persist in Wondering. |
