(Complete Chronology)

A derivative of the 1965 Arkham House collection Dagon - containing 17 of 37 stories. It "plays nice" (minimal overlap or duplication) with 2 other Ballantine collections from the early seventies: The Doom That Came To Sarnath and The Lurking Fear (which also draw heavily from Dagon.) As with most Lovecraft collections, this is mainly drawn from some subset or combination from his first 2 collections: The Outsider (1939) and Beyond the Walls of Sleep (1943.) The first was the start for Arkham House, and both are fabulously rare and unlikely to be reprinted in their entirety. Depending on what HPL you've read or have, or how much of a completist you are, will determine if this collection is right for you.
