All stories originally from the mid/late 1800's - first collected in Adela Cathcart (1864), Dealings With the Fairies (1867), Works of Fantasy and Imagination (1871). The four 1980 Eerdman's paperback collections are all derived from a pair of 1973 hardcovers from Eerdman's: The Gifts of the Child Christ, Volumes 1 and 2. [This collection is a subset from Volume One.] The Gifts of the Child Christ was the second MacDonald collection with that title - the first one was in 1882. The title story has gone by many names - including "The Lost Princess", "A Double Story", and "Princess Rosamund."
