Jeff Jones, who had shown an affinity for Norton's work with his "Solar Queen" and Zero Stone covers, supplies the best cover, which lasted for many printings.

Ace paperback (#75696 - 1971 by isfdb.com; copyright 1957.) Cover by Jeff Jones (this is the 2nd of at least 3 printings with this cover), 188 pages, 95 cent cover price. Condition is near-Fine: tight and almost square with flat spine; age tanning is very mild and uniform; slight flaking/wear at top/bottom of front cover (see scan.) No stamps, marks or writing - a very clean copy.

Sea Siege - On a bleak little island in the West Indies, Griff Guston faced many baffling questions. Why were there so many small island cruisers found adrift and abandoned? Why was the sea disease that Griff's scientist father was investigating radioactive? Why were the colonies of octopi growing larger and becoming so strangely organized and daring? Before the answers could be found, civilization blanked out beyond the island. Atomic attack had left the little group isolated, alone in a world gone silent, in a world about to endure the terrors of atomic fallout and total devastion. But there was another danger to come: from the ocean floor where a new and competing type of intelligence was prepared to seize the world for itself.

This early paperback features a cover by the imcomparable Jeff Jones. Jones was most active in SF in the late Sixties and early Seventies, and showed an affinity for Norton's work with his 3 "Solar Queen" covers and both Zero Stone covers - most of these covers lasted for many printings. The 7 covers he did for Norton titles are the best those have ever had (in my opinion) - not only good illustrations of scenes, but capturing the sense-of-wonder of these prime period Nortons. Even if you have other editions of these, I recommend getting copies just for the art (and the great stories.)
