All stories are revised from original appearances in Nebula (3), New Worlds (3), Infinity, Science Fantasy (2), Star SF, Magazine of F&SF, Authentic SF - from 1957 to 1959. As noted in the introduction, these stories loosely fit into a "future history." 2 of these stories cannot be found in any other Aldiss collection. This collection has an American variant: Galaxies Like Grains of Sand (1960) - which has 7 of these stories (with one more added.) The connecting notes are expanded for that version.
