Henry Holt and Company: 10th? printing hardcover (copyright 1966; number sequence is 20 19 18 17 16 15 14 13 12 11.) Wraparound cover by Evaline Ness, 201 pages, $16.95 cover price. (Size is 6-1/2" by 9-1/2") Condition is VG/VG+ in a VG+ to near-Fine dustjacket; book is tight and square with the usual light bumping to ends of spine; age tanning is mild and uniform; light overall wear. Unclipped DJ has no tears; light overall wear - heaviest along top/bottom edges (see scans.) This is an ex-Library copy with typical markings: 2 stamps, sticker at bottom of spine; pocket on right first endpaper, and traces on end-boards where DJ had been glued. No other marks or writing - a very clean copy with no smudges. The plastic DJ protector took most of the wear and has been discarded, leaving a matte-finish cover that looks resistant to wear.

The third book in Lloyd Alexander's "Chronicles of Prydain" - The Castle of Llyr. If you want a long and detailed plot summary, I suggest looking on Wikipedia, but warn that it gives so many details that it may spoil any surprises for those who prefer such.

[The flap-copy:]
Princess Eilonwy of the red-gold hair is sad when she must leave her friends at Caer Dalben to go to the Isle of Mona for training as a proper princess. But Eilonwy will face much more than the ordeal of becoming a lady, for she possesses magical powers sought by Achren, the most evil enchantress in all of Prydain. When shortly after her arrival at the Isle of Mona, something sinister and secret befalls the princess, her loyal friends set out on a mission to rescue her. Taran, assistant pig-keeper, Fflewddur Fflam, the bard, and Prince Rhun, intended husband of Eilonwy - all go on a journey filled with excitement, terrifying encounters with evil forces, and private, sometimes painful revelations for each of them. Eilonwy herself never forgets what she learns about magic turned to evil purposes.
