Lifeboat, by James White - The passengers on the Eurydice were the usual varied lot, some nervous, some boisterous, some smart-alec, some quiet. A slightly shorter version was serialized in Galaxy in 1972 as "Dark Inferno." British editions of this book use the serial title.
