An early novel by Poul Anderson: Star Ways (1956) / connects with his "Psychotechnic" series. Originally an Avalon hardcover in 1956, the first paperback appearance was half of an Ace-Double in 1957. This was retitled The Peregrine in 1978. The galactic Nomads were an unplanned byproduct of man's conquest of the stars.
