The Rest of the Robots - in 1964, Doubleday came out with a large omnibus/collection to be a companion volume to Isaac Asimov's I, Robot (from 1950.) The third and fourth stories are "Laws of Robotics" stories, and the last 4 feature Susan Calvin. Since this omnibus included 2 novels, many paperback editions were abridged by omitting them - resulting in awkward titles like Eight Stories from The Rest of the Robots (or just using the same title without noting the abridgement.) Since Asimov kept writing robot stories and novels, later books replaced this pair - but sometimes I feel that these first 2 robot collections had the best stories - when the concepts were fresher and Asimov was perhaps less polished but more inspired. I'll have to admit that the famous The Caves of Steel (1954) shows its age upon re-reading many decades later, but for its time - it was visionary and original (and I still remember the vivid chase on the slidewalks.)

I- The Coming of the Robots:
Robot AL-76 Goes Astray
Victory Unintentional
II- The Laws of Robotics:
First Law
Lets Get Together
III- Susan Calvin:
Satisfaction Guaranteed
Risk
Lenny
Galley Slave
Lije Baley:
THE CAVES OF STEEL
THE NAKED SUN

The stories first appeared from 1942 to 1958 - in Amazing, Super-Science, Fantastic Universe, Infinity, Astounding, and Galaxy. The novels are from 1954 and 1957 - they were serialized in Galaxy, and Astounding.
