A collection of related stories by J. G. Ballard: Vermillion Sands. Ballard was first noticed in Britain where he published his early stories in the late Fifties, then in America when they began collecting these stories in book form in the early Sixties. He was known for psychological or "Inner Space" stories involving near future disasters or deserted landscapes. These stories are set in a common locale - a desert resort or artist’s colony: Vermillion Sands. Many had appeared in previous collections, but they have a different effect when taken together. As usual - Richard Powers' surreal cover art makes a perfect complement to these stories. Prima Belladonna Original appearances from 1956 to 1970 - in Science Fantasy, Amazing, Magazine of F&SF, IF, Fantastic. "Venus Smiles" (1967) is rewritten/revised from "Mobile" (1956.) |
