1969 Hardcover Paul Lehr Book= near-Fine Dustjacket= VG+ or better
Book is tight and almost square with (the usual) light bumping to spine end. No stamps, marks or writing - a very clean copy. DJ is mostly very nice - with a 1/2" tear at top right corner of front cover, some wear at bottom of spine, and a 1/4" chip gone from top right of back cover (see scans.) Most copies I see of this book have rubbing wear which detracts from one's enjoyment of the Lehr cover - a clean copy like this seems quite rare.
Dr. Freda Caron had been waiting for her fiance, Paul, to return from The Planet of the Flowers - Flora. But Paul had requested an extended tour of duty, and sent his assistant instead, bearing a new breed of Siren Tulip. The gift served its purpose - to intrigue her and get her to join him in his studies of the dominant Orchids of Flora, and how they manipulated and ruled the life on that planet. Boyd has a vivid, satirical, and ribald style of writing, and this novel in particular has a strong sexual undercurrent. |
