1951 1st Hardcover, Ex-Library no cover / missing cover Good+ or better
Stamps inside covers front & back, on top page block; pocket ripped from back page; re-bound by library (very tight and square.) Missing dustjacket. Only 3000 copies of this early small-press SF hardcover were printed - (so even a rebound copy has some value.)
(Introduction) These first appeared from 1942 to 1949 in Ellery Queen's, 4 from Thrilling Wonder Stories, Captain Future, Planet Stories, Weird Tales. "Something Green" is original to this collection. For the rest, this is their first appearance in a Fred Brown collection. My favorite Fred Brown story is "Come and Go Mad." A reporter pretends to be a madman to investigate an insane asylum - but he really is Napoleon(!) |
