VG+ to near-Fine

Text matches 1991 slightly-revised/corrected version - originally 1985. The biggest change was Card's long introduction about the genesis of the idea and writing of the book.)

TOR: July 1994 paperback (copyright 1985; revised-edition hardcover was in 1991.) Cover by John Harris, 324 pages. Condition is VG+ to near-Fine: tight with slight tilt (1/16"?) and flat spine; age tanning is mild and uniform. Signed on title page (see scan.) No stamps, marks or writing. A clean copy that looks like it was read once with care.

Expanded from Card’s first story in Analog (same title.) That was a Hugo nominee itself. Fearful that the alien Buggers will return again to wipe out humanity, the government of Earth approves an experiment in genetics, aiming for humans with superior abilities. Andrew Wiggens (Ender) is the fruit of that program. At age 6 he is enrolled in Battle School, where student armies fight mock wars in zero gravity: “games” to develop tactics and strategies human soldiers would need agains the Buggers. For Ender, they changed the rules without warning, forcing him to adapt and inovate - pushing his natural abilities to the limit.
