These originally appeared from 1961 to 1971 - in Playboy (8), Boy's Life (2), This Week, Bizarre, Galaxy (2), IF, Escapade, plus Infinity 2 and The Farthest Reaches. "A Meeting With Medusa" was a Hugo-nominee in 1972, and won the Nebula award for "best novella" in 1973.

In 1987, there was a slightly expanded version from Signet which added 3 vignettes. 20/21 of that expanded set also appear in the 1991 paperback More Than One Universe, and 20/21 stories appear in The Collected Stories of Arthur C. Clarke (2000) - but I consider that large volume much too large to actually read comfortably.
